2008 see Hoover celebrating 100 years. Hoover was founded in Ohio, the USA in 1908. It started out manufacturing floor care appliances and in 1919 became a registered company in the UK. Hoover’s business becomes to flourish globally and was soon to dominate the electric vacuum industry; so much so that the word “to hoover” was used as a verb meaning “to vacuum the floor”.
The Company was owned by the Hoover family until the 1940s since then there have been many ownership transitions. The Hoover Company in the USA was eventually owned by Whirlpool Corporation who in 2006 decided to sell to the Hong Kong China-based Techtronic Industries.
Hoover in the UK and Ireland had split from Hoover in the USA in 1993 and formed the Hoover European Appliance Group. They are now part of the Candy Group; a privately owned Company based in Italy. Today Hoover employs over 1350 people in the UK and has become a well-known household name of quality domestic appliances including Hoover tumble dryers and washing machines. VHV180 Hoover Vented Tumble Dryer
The Hoover VHV180 is a rear vented tumble dryer that can take an 8kg wash load. It has a white body and comes complete with a free venting hose kit. This style of tumble dryer needs to be situated near a window for the vent hose to expel the air from the drying clothes. The other option would be to have a permanent vent installed through the wall.
The larger capacity of this model means the more tumble drying you can do at any one time. The Hoover VHV180 tumble dryer has a 165-minute timer, a reverse action tumble and a final cool cycle for reduced creasing and easier ironing. VHC180 Hoover Condenser Tumble Dryer
The Hoover VHC180 is condenser style tumble dryer that has a white body structure. With condenser tumble dryers the moist air is collected into a reservoir and with this model, there is an “empty light indicator” letting you know when to empty it. The water reservoir is located at the bottom of the tumble dryer.
The VHC180 has a very large drum capacity of 8kg and a gentle reverse tumble action for tangle free, ready to wear clothes. Other features include a choice of 2 heat settings and a cool air cycle at the end of each drying programme. VHC392T Hoover Condenser Tumble Dryer
The Hoover VHC392T is a condenser tumble dryer that has a white body colour. There is an empty water indicator that lets you know when it is full. This model has a top condenser drawer making it much easier to empty it. The drum capacity is a large 9kgs and it has a gentle reverse tumble action for better drying performance.
Other features of the Hoover VHC392T include 4 Sensor dry programmes, a delicate wool finish, a fast iron and refresh cycle. There is a start delay which allows you to delay the start of the programme; great for taking advantage of a cheaper rate of electricity tariffs.
As with all tumble dryers, there is a fluff filter that collects fibres from the clothes. It is important it is cleaned regularly to prolong the life of the machine and to save on electricity.
